Cane’s Chicken is very delicious and crispy Recipe. Inspired by one of the most popular food chains, this homemade recipe brings flavors of mouth-watering taste right to your kitchen. With this recipe of crunchy coating and juicy meat, it is ideal for family dinner or even a get-together of friends. Let’s see the ingredient and mode of cooking that will drive your taste buds crazy!
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken tenders
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred)
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying
MEASURES & PRECAUTIONS
- Thaw the chicken tenders, if they were frozen. Pat them dry using paper towels, removing excess moisture to help the coating brown a little crisper.
- Note the temperature of the oil with the use of a thermometer before frying. The ideal temperature should be at about 350°F or 175°C. If it is too hot, your coating burns, and if it’s too cool, then the chicken will surely absorb too much oil.
- Always use different cutting boards and utensils for raw chicken and other ingredients. Make sure to wash your hands extensively after touching raw chicken to avoid foodborne illnesses.
Cane’s Chicken Recipe – Crispy & Juicy
INGREDIENTS NOTES
-
Chicken Tenders: Fresh chicken tenders work best for this recipe. In case of frozen ones, they need to be completely thawed so that even cooking is ensured.
-
Buttermilk: If you are out of buttermilk, mix 1 cup of milk with 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice and let it stand for 5-10 minutes before using it.
-
Spices: You may adjust the spice to your taste-adding more cayenne makes it spicy, while omitting keeps it mild.
-
Panko breadcrumbs: Much larger and flakier, using this type of breadcrumbs the chicken is crunchier. If you don't have Panko, regular breadcrumbs work just as well.
-
Paprika: Mildly smoky flavor, adds goldness to fried chicken.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
-
Preparation of Chicken: This includes rinsing the chicken tenderloins with cold water, then pat drying them. This is a precautionary measure to help make them crispy.
-
Prepare the Marinade: Put the buttermilk in a bowl and add a pinch of salt. After that dip the chicken tenders in the buttermilk mixture, coating the chicken well. Put them in the refrigerator to rest and marinate for at least 30 minutes. This step tenderizes the chicken.
-
Preparing Coating: In another bowl, mix together the flour and garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well to distribute the spices evenly.
-
Heat the Oil: Add enough vegetable oil to a deep-frying pan/skillet so that it stands about 1-inch deep. Heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for better accuracy.
-
Dredge Chicken: Take chicken tenders out of buttermilk and let excess drip off. Using each tender, coat in flour mixture, pressing lightly so that it adheres nicely. Shake off excess flour.
-
Frying the Chicken: Place coated chicken tenders carefully in hot oil, being careful not to overload the pan. Fry until golden brown on both sides and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes on each side. Turn with slotted spoon.
-
Drain and Rest: Take fried chicken tenders out of the oil onto a plate lined up with paper towels to absorb the excess greasiness. Let them rest for about 5 minutes.
RECIPE TIPS & VARIATIONS
-
Extra Crunch-For a double dip, dip the chicken back into the buttermilk, then into the flour mixture once more for an extra crispy coating.
-
Baked Version-Line the coated chicken tenders on a baking sheet and bake in an oven preheated to about 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden, flipping halfway.
-
Dipping Sauce is so much better with a side of your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch, honey mustard, or even a spicy dipping sauce.
