Chicken noodle soup spicy is one of my favorites as it incorporates fried chicken, noodles and a spicy soup that is so warming. This dish is ideal especially when it is cold outside, or you just don’t feel very well. Although the addition of spices brings heat to the dish, it enhances the overall flavor feel and can be consumed throughout the year. Using fresh vegetables and employs the goodness of a rich broth, this is a perfect soup meal. Let me show you step-by-step how you can make this recipe at home.

RECIPE INGREDIENTS

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken (preferably boneless, skinless)
  • 200g egg noodles
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • 2 medium carrots, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (red or green)
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
  • Sliced green onions for garnish (optional)

MEASURES & PRECAUTIONS

  • Chicken Preparation: However, always remember to wash the chicken well and chop it into pieces that will be convenient for swallowing whole. Because this way it cooks evenly, as well as absorbs the flavors of broth and spices added into the preparation process.
  • Spice Control: If you have a problem with beverages with hot spices add little chili paste to the food you re heating. If you want it spicier, you can always add more later on, for me though I like it mild. It is easy to turn the heat up as opposed to turning it down.
  • Noodle Cooking: Noodles should be added during a later stage of the boiling process. They turn soft quickly therefore overcooking them is undesirable, always refer to the cooking instructions on the back of the pack.
  • Broth Quality: You may use low-sodium chicken broth if you are concerned about your sodium consumption. This allows you to control pretend that I was tasting the saltiness of the soup better.
  • Ingredient Freshness: It is recommended to use fresh vegetables and herbs only because they provide a better flavour and many nutrients. It is very important not to use left over ingredients because it will make your soup taste boring.

Best Season: Fall, Winter

INGREDIENTS NOTES

  1. Chicken: With this recipe, you can use boneless skinless chicken breasts or chicken thigh meat. Thighs are usually more absorbent of seasoning and therefore taste better than breast but they take slightly longer to cook than breast.

  2. Noodles: Egg noodles are recommended here; however, if you prefer rice noodles or even whole wheat, they will do just fine.

  3. Vegetables: You can change the vegetables that are used in the filling depending to your personal choice. Other great additions are spinach, mushrooms or bok choy.

  4. Spices: If you want a change of pace from the chili paste, Gochujang is a great alternative; it gives the soup a sweet spicy kick.

  5. Garnishes:  Fresh cilantro and green onions are used both for garnishing purpose and for flavoring up each bowl and making it crunchy.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Initial step involves the washing of the vegetables by removing dirt form them. Chop them into bite-sized pieces—this involves first chopping the onion, then putting the garlic through the mincer, grater the ginger, and slicing the carrots and bell pepper.

  2. Sauté Aromatics: Heat sesame oil in a large pot or preferably Dutch oven on rather moderate heat. After, incorporate diced onions, minced garlic and grated ginger. Stir until the onions become tender and shiny with droplets of oil—3-4 minutes.

  3. Cook Chicken: Place the chicken pieces into the pot. Sprinkle little salt and black pepper over it. It is advisable to cook the chicken until it is no more pinkish – it should take approximately 5 – 7 minutes. Since it will be cooked again later it is okay if it is not well done at this stage of preparation.

  4. Vegetables: After all that add the sliced vegetables such as carrots and bell peppers to cook with. Cook for further 3 – 4 minutes more or until they start to soften up.

  5. Add Broth and Water: Add in the chicken broth and the water. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer this mixture until it gets to the boiling point.

  6. Season Broth: As soon as the liquid is all boiling, switch down the heat to simmering. Add soy sauce and chili paste into the bowl. Try to sieve your broth at this point You may add more salt or chili paste depending on your taste.

  7. Cook Noodles: Place egg noodles directly into the pot and bring to a boil Then simmer them for 5 7minutes depending on instructions on the packet to avoid sticking together.

  8. Final Touches: If noodles are not yet completely cooked, then remove from heat source. If you wish to prepare it for serving, let it chills for a number of minutes so that the ingredients can mix up well.

  9. Garnish: Best eaten hot in serving bowls garnished with chopped fresh cilantro greens and green onions.

RECIPE TIPS & VARIATIONS

  1. Protein Alternatives: Chicken is good, but for a change one can try using shrimp or tofu since these go well with spiciness in this soup.

  2. Vegetarian Option: In order to keep this soup vegetarian, replace the chicken with chickpeas or lentils, and the chicken soup with vegetable soup instead.

  3. Extra Spice: For those who like things spicy, whole jalapeño peppers or crushed red pepper are added towards the end of the cooking time.

  4. Creamy Variation: For added richness without dominating other flavors try adding a little coconut milk at the end of the recipe to make the dish creamier.

  5. Storage Tips: This soup should be stored in an airtight container in a refrigerator for up to three days; you should reheat it in a saucepan before eating it.
